Where can I get Marylee’s book (signed)? It’s been a crazy few months & I’ve missed her book-signing events.

    • Hi Janet! No signings scheduled but I sent you a personal email to try to meet to sign your book! Thank you for all of your support over the years!

Really enjoyed this book especially the month-to-month advice and list of flowers that should be planted. Also liked the colorful pictures of the pots once they were potted. Would be helpful to have those plants identified. Thank you for a wonderful book.

    • Hi Jacke! Thanks for the nice comments. I really like your idea of identifying the plants in the pictures. As you can imagine, that will be a long job but one I am certainly willing to do and offer to my readers. I will put it on my to do list. Thanks again and I hope you have a great spring!

Thank you Marylee for the informative mini-seminar yesterday. I went directly to Complete Irrigation on my way home for my supply of inline emitters! When I replant the greenhouse next week, I’ll be ready to make the watering more efficient. I may still try the water bottles in a couple of outside pots. I’ve already started to evolve to large pot, but have some favorite smaller dish gardens & succulents on tables, shelves, & an old bakers rake! Your book looks so easy to follow. I love the month-by-month advice. Today starts the moving from the greenhouse, repotting, & garden fun! This is my relaxation! ????

Finally, I book that is really, really valuable for gardeners in Arizona about growing potted and landscape plants. It is a big challenge here in the desert, but you have made it easy and have ensured the gardener’s success. Thanks so much for your efforts!

    • Thank you so much Nancy for the lovely comments! It makes me so happy to have my readers give me the feedback that this book, Getting Potted in the Desert is providing them with the help I wanted to achieve. Happy Potting!

Love the book, Marylee. It’s great to have all that info in one place. And now I have an excuse to get rid of all my old pots that are smaller than 18″!

    • Thanks Peggy! If I can only help people get rid of those small useless pots, I will have done my job!

Received your book as a gift and love it! Very informative and helpful. Hoping for another book with pictures of pots with plants that have the same requirements (water, sun vs shade, etc).

    • That’s a great idea Jean! I am going to be sending out a survey to see what my readers do want next. Don’t let me forget that one! Would it work as a video?

Thanks for taking the time to comment on the book. Cheers!

I, like many others, moved here from more “moderate” climates and became confused regarding exactly which plants ( other than cactus) can grow and thrive here. Often ” big box” garden shops feature plants that are dead within days of transplanting. Your book has given me the necessary information to make selections that not only are climate appropriate but also increase the selections that greatly enhance the beauty and enjoyment of my yard. For this I owe you a big THANK YOU !

    • Hi Robert! Thanks so much for the wonderful comment. You are very WELCOME for your book. It took me long enough – 🙂 but at least it is done!

I moved to Tucson a year and a half ago from the Seattle, Washington area. I am needed to “re-learn” and adjust to many new gardening techniques in this Sonoran Desert climate. Marylee’s new book is a godsend. I now have a “to do” list for every month with the information I need to take care of my landscape and pots … as well as add new plants or dispose of ones I don’t want any longer. Thank You Marylee! I have shared your book with a friend and purchased a second for a lovely neighbor who is also a transplant from the Pacific Northwest!

    • Thank you so much for your gracious comments Kathy! I really do appreciate that you picked up the book for yourself as well as your neighbor.

Loved the book. Obviously a lot of time an effort went into it and your love of container gardening shows. Almost all of my garden is in containers and I find it a very satisfying and flexible way to garden. I miss my vegetable garden, but the soil at my present home does not permit me to put things in the ground. I especially like you plant lists by season. I understand that you are offering a class on the 4th, but unfortunately I will not be able to attend. I look forward to e-mails and more information.

    • Thanks Cynthia! Keep watching because there will be more information on growing veggies and herbs in pots. Certainly a great way to keep your vegetables above the ground. 🙂

  10. Because I am not much of a gardener who loves gardens and flowers and plants, etc., this book is perfect for me. I can be inspired by it and led methodically to realize the dream of having even just one lovely potting experience. I really like the functionality of it. It is a great step by step reference guide for the novice and accomplished gardener. Thanks, Marylee!

    • Thanks so much Montie! Be sure to send me pictures as your potted garden grows. And as I know you have a travel blog, maybe you can take pictures on your journeys and share them with us when you return. Happy Potting!

Love your book!!! I love to do container gardening, mostly for plants that flower but also for a few vegetables. Thank you for your book! There is so much information and I love your newsletter as well.

    Thanks!
    Jane

As she does in her classes, Marylee comes across in a straightforward, humorous way, and gives such great directions it’s impossible not to succeed. So glad this book is finally here.

    • Thanks Lynne! You are so kind. I know you have been waiting for this book for years!

I have been waiting for this book for a long time and I was NOT disappointed when it was finally published! I LOVE the format of suggestions on a month-by-month basis as well as the clear and easy layout and the spiral binding! It is packed full of exactly the kind of advice I need to be a more successful potted gardner in the desert. I have lived in Tucson for 16 years and this has given me more helpful information in one lovely little book then I have acquired in all that time of trial and error! I will not only be using this for myself but also giving this as gifts to my long-time resident friends as well as newcomers alike! Thank you, Marlee for so generously providing all of your “secrets” in this fantastic book to those of us that dream of year-round color for our desert dwellings.

    • Thank you very much Barb. It really warms my heart to see all of the wonderful comments that my early readers have taken the time to write. Watch for my upcoming survey to see what you all want next from me. And I promise the next publications will not take eight+ years to complete!

I haven’t read the book yet but plan on it. I checked a few things and the main one I will be using will be the tips on plants that will be javelin resistant. I’m new to having a home with a yard here in AZ and am losing plants due to their being eaten either by javelina, rabbits or birds; I don’t know which. Thanks for a great book!

    • Thanks Joanne. It used be that we could say, use these plants and your pots will be safe from the critters. With our long drought conditions, that is no longer true. But follow my tips and you have a better shot.

Love the book…i am a new transplant from New Jersey, love gardening, and am now facing the many challenges of desert gardening. Thanks for your help!!

    • Thanks Judy! Coming from New York State, I know what you are saying. You are very welcome!

I have lived in Green Valley for 9 years and have been gardening in pots for most of that time. I thought I was pretty knowledgeable, but I find your book very helpful, especially the list of plants to use in winter and summer. Many of them I have not heard about and I am looking forward to using them.

    • Thanks Bernadette! Just be a little cautious on anything that is frost tender as you are even colder in Green Valley. As always, let me know if you have any questions!

    Hi Marylee,
You’ll be happy to know that all ten copies in PCPL are checked out with holds — so it’s quite popular!

    Richard

    • Richard – this is absolutely amazing! I was so honored when you requested to purchase 10 copies of the book. I never would have thought that this would be such a rich outlet. You know I love our libraries. Thank you for all you do to keep our book needs in your libraries.
